Small on purpose.

Every few months someone asks when we’re going to scale. The honest answer: maybe never, and definitely not the way they mean.

The short version

Small isn’t a limitation we’re apologising for — it’s a deliberate choice. Staying independent means the people who pitch the work also make it, we can say no to the wrong brief, and taste never gets diluted through five layers of account management. It costs us scale. It buys us the only thing that matters: the work stays good.

Every so often someone asks when we’re going to scale. The honest answer is: maybe never, at least not the way they mean. Staying small is not a phase we are waiting to grow out of. It is the strategy.

What small costs

We can’t take every brief. We don’t have an army to throw at a problem, so we pick fewer problems. If you need a hundred videos by Friday, we are the wrong call, and we will tell you so. Being honest about that is part of the deal.

What small buys

The people who pitch you are the people who do the work. No telephone game between the room where it is sold and the room where it is made. No junior quietly inheriting your account three weeks in. Taste stays intact because it does not have to survive five approval layers to reach the final cut. And we can say no — to the wrong fit, the bad-faith brief, the thing that would be easy money and worse work.

Why “independent” became a selling point

For years, scale was the whole pitch: more offices, more logos, more headcount. Then everyone noticed that the big shops often subcontract the interesting part anyway, and that a tight independent team frequently does braver, sharper work. Clients started choosing small on purpose. We think that instinct is right.

It is not for everyone

If you want a one-stop shop that never says no, we are not it. If you want a small group of people who genuinely care whether the work is good, and who will tell you the truth when it isn’t — that is the entire idea.
